Not a bad place to be in after all the turmoil, stress, doubts and the bag of “goodies” which accompany entering into an IVA.

It can only be bettered by one thing, “The end of the last year”. I look forward to it. I am beggining to fell it has an end.

If I knew then what I know now, I doubt I would have entered into the IVA, and less, paid the ungrammatical incompetence of Debtmatters to manage my ensuing financial obligations. Fortuntely the account was one day, mysteriously, taken over by Grant Thorton who have (personally) demonstrated a level of professionalism I did not imagine. In every telephone conversation I have had with this company, I was received with warmth and understanding of my situation, the shame and humiliation one can feel under such misfortune. The advise they have given has always been framed within a positive potential of when the IVA is completed.

Seeing my name in the Insolvency Register now is enough to put me off the idea of doing something like this again. The experience, however, as a whole has had a greater dramatic effect. I know I was in a situation through little fault of my own, but I certainly did make some big mistakes. Bad way to learn.

One BIG question remains and wondered if someone had considered this.

A proportion of my debt as defined by the IVA is made up of illegal bank charges (at least we know that this is solid in the case of credit cards). Would this not render the IVA contract illegal as that part of the debt is illegal and the banks would be recouping money that actually isn’t theirs?.

Is this a naive question?

Whichever way I have no intention of helping banks anymore than being forced to offer a nice wad of tax to save their irresponisible a…

Though this in itself is a depressing thought, it does put a smug smile on my face knowing the borrower is saving the borrower. A good bit of knowldege to remember when it is time to vote. Think about it. You are repaying a debt and paying extra tax to save those who were not particularly helpful when you asked for help.

BTW how do you do a big smug smile with ascii?
